Rajinikanth joins hunger strike against service tax

Chennai: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has joined a hunger strike, led
by the A-listers of the Tamil film industry.
They want artists, directorsand choreographers to be exempt from
paying service tax. A few years ago, theatres and distributors were
exempted from paying service tax.
"If there's a tough law to book tax defaulters so muchof money could
be mobilised," said Rajinikanth.
All film shoots for today have been cancelled. Theatres across Tamil
Naduwill remain closed till tonight.
Actors, directors, producers, distributors, technicians and theatre
owners will also take part inthe strike
